Responsibility

We believe that giving our time, money and resources builds stronger communities and is essential to Loblaw’s long-term success. As a member of Imagine Canada, we have pledged to donate at least 1% of our pre-tax profit per year to charitable and non-profit organizations.

Our Priorities

Our support is focused at the national, regional and local levels on:

President’s Choice® Children’s Charity (PCCC) – Helps Canadian children live to their full potential. We are committed to supporting children’s health and wellness across Canada. Our focus is on childhood nutrition and children with disabilities. PCCC helps kids through grants for childhood nutrition programs and provides support for families with a child with a disability.

Last year, PCCC granted more than $10.6 million to 1,800 families across Canada. PCCC also granted $2.75 million to childhood nutrition programs. As the National Premier Sponsor of Breakfast for LearningTM our funding supported more than 4,000 nutrition programs providing 276,000 meals to children in schools across Canada. As well PCCC partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada to create the PCCC Basic Needs Brighter Future Program.

Healthy Active Kids – We support charitable organizations across Canada that are working to address the increasing concern of childhood obesity by supporting national/local programs for children and youth to increase their knowledge and awareness of nutrition, physical activity and healthy living.

Feeding Our Neighbours – We have partnered with Food Banks Canada to develop a strong national food drive strategy to help the more than 800,000 Canadians who turn to food banks each month. Through this collaboration, local and provincial food banks receive support from Loblaw corporate and participating franchise stores during our National Extra Helping food drives in the spring and the winter.

Greening Our Communities – We work with WWF, Tree Canada, the Trans Canada Trail and more to grow programs that inspire Canadians to take action on a few simple, selected behaviours in a way that yields measurable environmental benefit.

In addition to these initiatives, Loblaw stores directly support the communities in which they operate. Our stores have the ability to donate in gift cards. These can be used as auction items or to purchase needed items from the store. Requests that benefit the community and do not exceed $500 can be submitted directly to the local store manager for consideration.
